Nappy bag - vintage and antique fabric

I made this nappy bag for my friend's daughter who just had her 4th child! Having 4 children is amazing in itself! I made the bag with antique Italian linen and vintage fabrics. I appliqued all different fabrics and trims, some vintage embroidered flowers. I then appliqued a little girl and rabbit. The bag is quite large, made like a messenger bag with 2 external pockets and 3 internal ones. More images on flickr

Yoko Saito in Florence

I was very honoured to participate in a 2 day course held by Yoko Saito in Florence, Italy, last Thursday and Friday. I was amazed and thankful she made it over here from Japan depite the terrible earthquake and tsunami they suffered the Friday before.

Yoko is a truly an amazing artist her work is impeccable. We learnt so many wonderful techniques including Un sin. I now have a different type of thimble for nearly every finger! Yoko uses a different combination of these thimbles for each technique. I had to write it all down as I can't remember what to use when!

Below are some images of work completed by students at Agomago in Florence the shop which hosted the workshop.More images of Yoko Saito's work are on flickr.

Sarah's Stitching Along- 37 Squares

I had totally forgotten my Stitching Along project until I found it the other day and decided to finish it. I probably haven't done all the squares that I agreed upon with Rach but that's because Jamie decided to give me very strict instructions on what he wanted me to sew including 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'The Cat in the Hat'. He has now given me the instructions to make it up into a cushion for him. I might get around to that tomorrow and will blog it when I am done. It's been fun! Rach and mum now need to finish theirs!

Lavender patchwork cushion

I made this for a customer order. She's putting together a lavender/purple nursery with touches of blue and orange, wanting to stay away from pink. I love the way this turned ouyt and might have to make another for my shop! I used a mix of vintage and new fabrics.

Pouch pencil case heart bird bee applique

This purse/pouch/pencilcase is the perfect size to keep things orderly. This little pouch can be used for makeup, business cards, bills to be paid, receipts, jewellery, hair clips, pens, pencils and the list goes on. They also make the perfect gift. This could also be a lovely baby shower gift, the perfect pouch to carry wipes, creams and so on.

It has been made with beautiful antique linen and embellished with a sweet applique. The pouch is hand quilted and embroderied. It is lined with a the same pink spot as the binding and has a zip closure.

The Floss Box

We have recently discovered 'The Floss Box' website. We have had her as a contact on Flickr for quite some time but for some crazy reason we only just found out that she actually sells the cutest cross-stitch and embroidery patterns on her website. I always admire her photos on Flickr and have lots in our favourites. Rach and I both bought heaps of patterns. They are super cheap. We both love cross-stitch and embroidery so will have fun sewing them. The only problem is which one to start with????
